The style of yoga Rosemarie Bryson teaches has been inspired by the pioneering approach of Vanda Scaravelli (herself a B.K.S.Iyengar student). This approach to yoga works with the principles of gravity and the movement of the breath in the body to free the spine. The intention is to find deep connections of muscles working together, creating space and freedom of movement in the body and make the practice strong yet effortless.
The body is encouraged to ground, elongate from the core and there is no pushing or pulling. The emphasis is not on achieving postures but using them to undo tension and find integration of the body and mind. We train our attention so that we can feel more, impose less, and allow the intelligence of the body to reveal itself.
As B.K.S. Iyengar said:
“Words can not convey the value of yoga. It has to be experienced”
“Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and to endure what cannot be cured” B.K.S. Iyengar
